Talismania Founder Musings: Transitions, Talismans, and Tarot

Apr 7, 2025

March was a month of movement—across landscapes, through creative phases, and into a new season of life for both me and Talismania.

Style in the Wild: Austin During SXSW

The month began in Austin, where I found myself during the vibrant chaos of SXSW. I wasn’t attending the festival itself, but the energy was palpable—music in the air, bold self-expression everywhere. What struck me most was the style: a wildly eclectic fusion of tech-meets-western.

Naturally, I had to represent for Montana, serving up my own version of dandy-meets-cowgirl. The result? A few head turns and a lot of joy. Sometimes showing up in your full expression is the most potent kind of branding.

Ski to Spring: The Ritual of Return

Later in the month, I made my second trip of the season to Big Sky for a few final days on skis. There’s something uniquely exhilarating about Montana’s late winter—one moment you're floating through powder, the next you’re pulling on trainers for a sun-soaked run. The mountains seem to breathe with you.

This seasonal transition from skiing to running has become something of a ritual for me: the shedding of layers, the return to rhythm. Skiing makes me feel alive. Running makes me feel aware.

Each spring, I find myself settling back into that steady cadence with renewed intention. It’s a reminder that movement doesn’t always mean pushing—it can also mean listening.

Custom Stories in Stone

This season of transition was mirrored in the studio. March brought the culmination of a months-long custom project that I’ll be sharing more about soon. The client came to me with stones she mined herself from Gem Mountain in Montana, paired with heirloom diamonds passed down from both grandmothers.

The design brief was deceptively simple: create something that felt balanced using asymmetrical materials. The final piece is one of my favorites to date—a story told through form, color, and legacy.

Alexandrite and Understated Magic

Another custom journey has just begun—this time centered around a breathtaking Alexandrite. Its color shift is mesmerizing: a living reminder of how beauty often lies in change.

The goal for this piece is to let the stone speak for itself, with a design that whispers rather than shouts. Understated, elegant, and soulfully intentional.

Tarot Symbolism and Capsule Creation

My fascination with tarot has only deepened. I’ve completed designs for the first two cards in Talismania’s original deck, and they’ll soon be translated into capsule jewelry pieces. These will be limited in quantity and designed to pair together like a personal card pull—creating combinations that reflect your own unique narrative.

Tarot, to me, is a map of the soul—and jewelry is how we carry that map with us.

Expanding Beyond Adornment

We’ve added a fresh batch of small-batch designs to the site, alongside a new collection of ritual tools and lifestyle items. These additions are part of a larger vision—expanding Talismania’s offerings to reflect not just adornment, but intention.

Each object is designed to support personal ritual, creativity, and grounded beauty.

Growing With Intention

Behind the scenes, new energy is flowing as well. I’ve expanded the Talismania team, bringing in web consultants and a social agency I’m truly excited to partner with. Over the next few months, you’ll notice a more seamless online experience, elevated content, and deeper storytelling throughout everything we do.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in two years of entrepreneurship is this: Stay lean, but invest with purpose. These decisions aren’t just about growth—they’re about clarity, consistency, and offering more to our community.

Spring’s Arrival—In Nature and in Business

The sandhill cranes and bluebirds are back, echoing the quiet arrival of spring. And I feel that shift in the business too—a new cycle of focus, creativity, and growth taking root. There’s beauty blooming, and I’m excited to continue building with intention.
